About

Herrenvolk is a webcomic (obviously) drawn, written, etc. by me. You'll have to excuse the low quality of the art for the earlier stuff. My style keeps evolving, and I try to do something new and better with it each time I draw a new page.
The story revolves around a number of people who work for a secretive shadow government called Majestic-12 that fights off various secret societies and their attempts to threaten humanity.

Influences.
The visual style is influenced greatly by Dave Sim and Gerhard, the minds behind the comic series Cerebus. Other influences on the art include Frank Miller (particularly his work on Sin City) and that of Tim Sale, artist behind Batman:The Long Halloween, and Batman:Dark Victory.

Other influences include The X-Files, Oliver Stone's JFK, the films of David Lynch, the films of Dario Argento, Noir Film, Giallo films, the works of directors David Cronenberg, John Carpenter, and Alfred Hitchcock. Other tv series and films that have influenced the story on one level or another are 24, The West Wing, Queer as Folk, Twin Peaks, G.I. Joe (80's) and Batman:The Animated Series.

Also influental has been late 80's to early 90s era X-Men, especially the art of Jim Lee and the stories of Chris Claremont. Aside from The Long Halloween and Dark Victory, other Batman material that has influenced me has been the Golden Age stories, particularly the pre-Robin material that was similar in tone to the gritty pulp detective fiction of the era. I've taken some visual and stylistic influence from Chris Ware in regards to panel layout and a few pages in one of the flashback stories.

Much of the conspiracy material is culled together from all over, but the books that have informed that side of the story the most are "The 80 Greatest conspiracies of All Time", "The Great UFO Hoax", "Mind Control and U.F.O.'s;Casebook on Alternative 3", and "Body Snatchers In The Desert."
